Great Library at JWU
Do you like going to the library?
I have always liked to go to the library, but recently I like going there even more than before.
It is because JWU’s library is very neat and the librarians are helpful.
Today, I want to introduce JWU’s library.
JWU's library was rebuilt in 2019 according to the design by an architect Kazuyo Sejima, who graduated from JWU, so it is modern and easy to use.
She said: "I thought that I wanted to design a library where the whole place feels connected."
Exactly as she said, the library is all glass-covered and is not only bright from the sunlight, but also easy to move. I really like this library.
And not only the building is so attractive, but also what’s inside is great.
Not to mention the library has a wide selection of technical books, it has kind librarians to lend a hand.
When I asked them where the book that I was looking for before, they didn’t only answer where the book was, but they also taught me how to find it.
In this way, the librarians who work at this library are so helpful.
I recommend that you visit this pretty library if the occasion arises.
You can read some books alone, search for a book with the help of some librarians, or just enjoy walking among the bookshelves quietly.
You’ll surely understand the pleasure of spending time at the library.

あなたは普段、図書館に行きますか？
私は以前から図書館に行くのが好きでしたが、最近は以前にも増して図書館が好きになりました。
それは、日本女子大学の図書館がとてもきれいで、司書の方が丁寧に対応してくれるからです。
今回は、日本女子大学の図書館を紹介したいと思います。
日本女子大学の図書館は、卒業生の妹島和世さんがデザインし2019年に建て替えられたので、現代的で使いやすい図書館になっています。
妹島さんは「全体がひとつながりに感じられるような図書館にしたいと思いました」と語っています。
まさにその通りで、全面ガラス張りのこの図書館は、日光が差し込み明るいだけでなく、移動もしやすいです。私はこの図書館をとても気に入っています。
また、建物が魅力的なだけではなく、中にあるものも素晴らしいです。
図書館には専門書があることはもちろん、ここには手を貸してくれる司書の方がいます。
以前、何人かの図書館の方に探している本がどこにあるか尋ねたとき、本のある場所を答えてくれるだけでなく、本の探し方も教えてくれました。
このように、この図書館で働いている司書の方はとても親切です。
皆さんも機会があれば、この素敵な図書館を訪れてみてください。一人で静かに読書するのもよし、司書の方の手を借りて本を探すのもよし、ただ本棚の間を歩くのもよし。きっと図書館で過ごすことの楽しさを知ることができるでしょう。
