I joined two circles when I became a university student.

The first is a mandolin circle. In the mandolin circle, I’m in charge of the double bass, which I’ve been playing since high school. When I was in high school, I used to play the double bass in the brass band club. Therefore, I played it knowing that I could produce a bigger and better sound than other wind and percussion instruments can. However, in the mandolin circle, playing double bass is more difficult than in the brass band club because I have to play it carefully so that it doesn’t overwhelm the delicate sound of the other instruments.

The second is a light music circle. In the light music circle, twice I was in charge of vocals at a live show. It was my first time singing in front of people, and I was so nervous that my hands trembled when I was waiting backstage for my circle’s turn. However, when the song started that we were going to sing to, thanks to the audience clapping their hands, I was able to relax and perform like I had practiced, which was very fun. I will be playing keyboard at our next live show. I’m worried about trying new things but also exited. So, I will do my best in this live show.

I joined two university circles and have had a lot of experiences. I think that I have changed a lot since I was in high school because previously I had never done anything that stood out before, but I’m comfortable performing on different stages. Also, because I joined these circles, I have been able to meet many people and make friends. I’m glad I joined both circles just because of this.

私は大学に入ってから２つのサークルに入りました。

１つ目はマンドリンサークルです。マンドリンサークルでは、私は高校生の時からやっているコントラバスを担当しています。私は高校の吹奏楽部でコントラバスを弾いていました。高校の頃は他の管楽器や打楽器に負けないように大きくてよく響く音作りを意識していましたが、マンドリンサークルでは他の楽器をかき消さないように注意しながら繊細な音で、しかし響きも無くさないように弾かなくてはならないので吹奏楽部の時よりマンドリンサークルで演奏する方が難しいなと思っています。

2つ目は軽音楽部です。軽音楽部では、私は２回ライブに出演したのですがどちらもボーカルを担当しました。初めて人前で歌った時、私は舞台裏で自分達のバンドの出番を待っている時から手が震えるくらい緊張していました。しかし、私たちの出番になり歌い始めた時、観客の人やサークルのメンバーたちが手拍子をしてくれたり音楽に乗ってくれたおかげで緊張が解け練習通りの演奏ができ、とても楽しい時間になりました。私は次のライブで初めてキーボードを担当します。新しいことに挑戦するのはとても不安ですが同時にとてもワクワクしています。次のライブも精一杯頑張りたいと思います。

私は2つのサークルに入って、まだ1年も経っていませんがたくさんの経験をすることができました。高校の時から変わったことは多いのですが、今まで積極的に人前に立つようなことをしなかった私がサークルに入って人前で演奏できるようになったことが一番変わったことだと思います。また、私はサークルに入ってたくさんの人と出会い友達を作ることできました、これだけで私は2つのサークルに入ってよかったと思います。
