I joined the intercollegiate orchestra circle this spring. Since we had a summer camp in the third week of August, I would like to write about my memories of it.

There were about fifty participants, mostly first-year and second-year college students. The training camp was on a mountain, so we went by chartered bus. As to the transportation of musical instruments, all the large instruments, such as the contrabass, were transported on a truck, while easy-to-carry instruments and comparatively small instruments were carried on the bus. We had lunch at a service area on the way and had a pleasant talk with everyone while eating soft serve ice cream.

Practice began as soon as we arrived, and from there time passed quickly. The practices are part practice and ensembles, while individual practice happened during our free time or at night. Since no one else was near our accommodations, we could play music 24 hours a day. Therefore, it was a bit of fresh experience for me to be practicing at 1 or 2 a.m. I also enjoyed staying up late playing games and talking with people who I normally do not talk to, which I think is a unique part of training camps.

The weather on the mountain was cloudy with dense fog for three days, but it was sunny on the fourth day. On the fourth night, there were fireworks, so I went outside to watch them. It was pitch-black, so I could see the very beautiful stars. It was the first time for me to see the starry sky in such darkness, and I was so impressed that I took a lot of pictures.

I am looking forward to the spring camp in March.

私はこの春インカレのオーケストラサークルに入りました。そして8月の第3週目に夏合宿があったので、今回はその思い出を書こうと思います。
参加者は合計約50人で主に1.2年生です。合宿所は高原だったので貸切バスで行きました。楽器の運搬についてはコントラバスなどの大きな楽器はトラックで運び、持ち運びが楽な楽器や比較的小さな楽器はそのままバスに乗せて行きました。途中で寄ったサービスエリアで昼食をとった後ソフトクリームをみんなで食べながら談笑したのが楽しかったです。
到着してすぐに練習が始まり、そこからはあっという間に時間が過ぎていきました。練習内容はパート練習や合奏などで、個人練習はその他の空き時間や夜にすることが多かったです。宿泊施設が高原にあるということもあり音出しは24時間可能でした。そのため、夜中の1時や2時に練習するという少し新鮮な体験をすることが出来ました。また合宿ならではだと思うのですが、夜更かしをしてゲームをしたり、普段あまり話さない人と話すことが出来たり仲良くなることが出来たのでとても楽しかったです。
高原の天気は3日間濃い霧に包まれた曇りだったのですが、4日目だけは晴天でした。4日目の夜に花火大会があり、花火をするために外に出ると真っ暗闇だったのでとても綺麗に星が見えました。私はこのような暗闇で星空を見るのが初めてだったので思わず感動して沢山写真を撮ってしまいました。
春にも合宿があるので今からとても楽しみです。
